What are the strategies that adolescents from various socio-economic backgrounds use when facing setbacks in their educational careers? How do they navigate difficult assignments, cope with low grades, or handle the feeling of not meeting expectations? To what extent does resilience, or the ability to ‘bounce back’ after setbacks, influence their responses? These are all questions at the core of Myrthe’s research. To address these questions, they will use a combination of fMRI scans, behavioral studies, and diary studies to explore how students respond to negative feedback and to uncover the strategies they employ in response.
