Miriam Hollarek
Miriam Hollarek is a postdoctoral researcher at GUTS WP1 Rotterdam and is embedded in the Erasmus SYNC lab. She is interested in how environmental factors contribute to individual differences in adolescents’ social-cognitive development and well-being. Miriam works within the Growing Up Together in Society (GUTS) research program, where she investigates how socioeconomic status relates to adolescents’ daily stress and resilience, using experience sampling methods (ESM).
Miriam received her PhD in Developmental Psychology from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) under supervision of prof. dr. Lydia Krabbendam, dr. Nikki Lee, and dr. Mariët van Buuren in which she studied the bidirectional interplay between the peer environment and the development of empathy, perspective-taking, and self-regulation in early adolescence, using a combination of behavioral tasks, neuroimaging techniques and social network analysis. During her PhD she also worked as a lecturer teaching research methodology and developmental psychology at University College Utrecht, Amsterdam University College and the VU.
