Barbara’s project aims to investigate the genetic and neurobiological mechanisms underlying self-regulation and individual development in adolescents. We will utilize statistical genetic methods to determine the genetic profiles of individuals in the cohorts in relation to their genetic self-regulation profiles. Moreover, we will investigate the link between individuals’ genetic profiles and cognitive performance, and brain structure and function. Within our approach, we hope to identify biomarkers involved in the individual development of adolescents. Furthermore, we will apply machine learning/artificial intelligence approaches to predict life outcomes based on genetic and neurobiological data. We hope this can help us better understand how adolescents’ individual developmental trajectory may shape their mental and physical health, and to develop preventive strategies against adverse life outcomes.
